Laurie sprints for the finish

2400 words Monday; 1700 words Tuesday; 3273 words Wednesday (but who’s counting?). The smoke gently curls out of Laurie’s ears…

A reminder that we’re drawing for two ARCs of the UK edition of Touchstone Friday, March 21. This is for UK residents only who send us a note at [email protected] with the subject line UK ARC.

The winners of the last two drawings are posted over at the Virtual Book Club, but I thought I’d mention that the Pasadena (CA), McHenry (IL), Mary D. Pretlow (Norfolk, VA), Daniels County (MT), Fannin County (GA), and Niles (IL) public libraries will each be getting signed copies of Touchstone for their readers, thanks to the affection of one of their readers (namely, Meredith, Jane, Catherine, Connie, Clare, and online casino free play, play casino and slots free online, play online casinocasino craps free gambling online, gambling craps, craps gambling gameonline casino blackjack, online casino gambling blackjack, casino blackjack game onlinejacks or better video pokerfree online blackjack game, casino blackjack game online, online blackjack gameonline casino gamblepoker gratuites argenttelecharger poker texas holdempoker sur netune régle du jeu du pokersalle poker en lignepoker gratuites débutantpocker texas holdemjeux pro poker tourforum poker onlinejeu de poker gratuitstelecharger poker superstarjeu flashpoker gratuites cadeaupoker comment joueronline poker rankingpoker gratuites sans inscriptionregles world pokertexas holdem javaworld championship of online pokertelecharger gratuitement pokerjouer poker omaha gratuitesjouer poker en lignepoker en ligne debutantjeu poker texas holdemjeux de poker virtuelpoker totalement gratuitespoker texas holdemjouer au poker sur macpoker holdem casinojeu de pokerjeu poker tour en lignejeux casino pokerpoker online gratuitesplay 7 card stud onlinejeu streap pokertexas holdem flashtélécharger le jeu de poker gratuitesjeu de texas holdempoker en ligne gratuiparadise poker compoker games onlinela règle du texas holdempoker gratuites sans telechargementpoker gratuites bruel Beatrice.)

In honor of national library week, coming up April 13-19, we will be giving away 15 sets of the lovely new trade paperback Russells—and if you want to spread the word by mailing out the following to all your friends-and-relations, I’d be grateful. Some library (and their patrons) might be, as well:

**
In a celebration of National Library Week in mid-April, the Laurie R. King web site is giving away–to libraries–fifteen sets of the gorgeous Picador trade paperback editions of the first four Mary Russell-Sherlock Holmes novels: The Beekeeper’s Apprentice; A Monstrous Regiment of Women; A Letter of Mary; and The Moor. Readers of Laurie’s blog and Virtual Book Club are being urged to nominate libraries, but there’s no reason libraries can’t nominate themselves.

Anyone interested should send their favorite library’s name and address to [email protected] with the subject: Russell in Libraries. The drawing will be April 15.

And now we return to our previously scheduled madcap episode of, Laurie and the Finish Line.

  1. Strawberry Curls says:

Clarification please — If you have previously nominated a library do you need to put their name up again?

I love the idea of winning the books for my library. Just want to know if I should re-submit it. Thanks.

    Alice

  2. Not necessary to re-nominate. We love libraries, and just want to spread the love as wide as possible.

    Laurie

  3. Strawberry Curls says:

Thank you, Ms. King, for answering so promptly.

I hope I didn’t break your concentration on more important things. Your output has been incredible this week, based on these numbers. You truly are smokin’. Must be spring, everyone I know is either working harder or hardly working. Unfortunately I have fallen into the latter category.

  4. [The smoke gently curls out of Laurie’s ears…]

Gently? Not with those numbers; it’s more like pouring out in a furious stream.

I’m imagining you as a boxer and your writing as a difficult fight. When the bell dings you can come here, to your corner, and we will rub your shoulder, give you a pep talk and a drink, then send you back into the ring. Ding, ding, ding. There’s the next round.

See you back here–same Bat time, same Bat channel–for the next exciting episode of Laurie Vs. The MS. (Cue the Rocky theme song.)

  5. [The smoke gently curls out of Laurie’s ears…]

The words “gently curls” gave me pause as well. I have more of an image like “erupting forcefully” or “venting furiously,” something along the lines of a volcano like Mt. St. Helen . . .

    Have a nice weekend, everyone.

  6. Laurie,

I saw this book this morning and thought immediately of Mary Russell — it’s called _A Camera, Two Kids, and a Camel_ and its by a photographer from National Geographic who traveled all over with her children (and husband, I believe) taking pictures. There is a slideshow with audio and some sample pictures that are just amazing. It’s the one of her friend sitting atop a monestary in Jordan that really tied in so strongly to your work, for me.

  7. Wow. Cathy, thank you so much for sharing the link to this photographer’s slideshow. How beautiful and inspiring. It was a gift to listen to her commentary about her photographic images. Now I must invest in her book.

  8. Thanks for saying we don’t need to re-nominate out lovely & deserving libraries (and what a lovely idea it is!). Now all I need to do is cross my fingers……………….

  9. A note for the web administrator (and not the smokin’ author) – this page is coming up with some interesting artefacts in the RSS feed (at least as it shows in Google reader). I’m not aware of a mechanism for spamming RSS, but it looks like it could bear some investigation.
